HISTORY

Iketsetseng Comprehensive Secondary School was started by the community of Zamdela.  It was accommodatedat Malakabeng Primary School for 6 months (January - June) 1990, because there was only Nkgopoleng as a secondary school, it became overcrowded because children from primary / feeder schools needed to attend a secondary school which was only Nkgopoleng to establish a new secondary school.  Teachers were taken from different schools to teach at Iketsetseng and the H.O.D and Principal were taken from Nkgopoleng.  Another reason that led to the establishment of these school is that Zamdela is near Sasol Factories, so the community decided to establish a school that gave technical, welding, graphic, consumer and many othe studies needed to apply for a job at sasol factory, so the whole community opened a comprehensive school which was named Iketsetseng.
It was given this name because the majority of people in Zamdela are sotho speaking people.  In English Iketsetseng means "do it yourselves", this name was given to the school because the resident of Zamdela stood up and did it themselves for their children, for them to get a brighter future.  The mott of the school is "we can", because the time the school was established the community of Zamdela said to themselves "lets do it ourselves because WE CAN".  Iketsetseng was informally opened in 1990, and officially opened on the 3rd of March 1992 by Sam De Beer who was the minister of education.  Since 1990 the headmaster of the school was Mr. M.N.O. Masike who ended up working at Fezile Dabi District Office.  He worked at the school for only 2 years and was promoted and replaced by Mr. T.P. Mosebi who retired in 2010 and handed over to Mr. P.E. Sedi who is the current principal.  We now have 62 educators who are very hard working and dedicated.
